As you can see, we like to have fun with our horses. Here is what some of the classes involve:
Money in the bank: Rider gaits down to barrel, picks up monopoly money, gaits back down to the bank (a
bucket on the ground) and places paper money in the bank. Whoever gets the most in the bank wins –
difficult when windy!
Catalog race: Each competitor rides from the start line to the far line, dismounts, tears out the specified
page in the catalog or magazine, gets on the horse, and rides back to cross the finish line. If the horse
breaks into a canter, that rider must return to the line they came from and start again. Fastest time wins.
Command class: Horses to be shown on the rail. Riders will be asked to perform a series of commands
issued by the judge (walk, stop, back, gait, canter, etc. ). The last rider to complete each command will be
asked to come to the center of the arena. The final rider remaining on the rail is the winner.
Exhibitor’s choice class: Riders will design their own pattern. Each rider will bring a CD to play the song of
their choosing while they are doing their pattern. Riders will have a maximum of 3 minutes in the ring. This
class could include a pattern done while riding your horse, in-hand or some combination of the two.
