Butch and I have owned Foxtrotter's for almost 15 years. My first one was Major's Blackjack L. - a big ol' gray
gelding with more heart than you can imagine. I still have him and suspect I always will. Butch's mount at the
time was Sensation's Cheyenne Spirit - an even bigger gray gelding! Spirit was close to 17 HH but had a heart of
gold and a surprisingly smooth gait! I can't even begin to tell you the number of miles these 2 guys carried us!
These horses and the entire breed stole our hearts and like many folks, we decided to expand the herd.
We have been fortunate to obtain some terrific mares who have produced fabulous foals. There's nothing like
Spring and the arrival of the babies. After several years of hauling mares here and there to be bred we decided
to stand our own stud and the search was on!
Our list of "he has to have this or this" was pretty long and we ruled out quite a few. One day while searching the
web I came across a yearling that struck my eye. Solid black with great breeding, I had a feeling this was the
guy. Butch and I took a Sunday drive from Corydon to DeSoto, Mo and came home with Spider in tow. That
diamond in the rough is now a 7 y/o gorgeous stallion that is homozygous black to boot. He has produced a lot
of beautiful babies that have that Spider stamp on them - natural gait, delightful personalities and a willing to
please attitude.
The horses are what we do. Sure we both have "real" jobs but we look forward to getting home each evening to
take care of the horses. Our herd grows and then decreases with the birth of foals or the sale of one but for us
there will always be MFT in our lives and in our fields. We feel very fortunate to have found such a wonderful
breed!
